The topic of discussion today is an extract from the book of Proverb 13:24, warning parents and guardian on the danger of over pampering children. I am not against pampering of children but I am against excessive pampering.
Pampering a child when He/she does well is good and the opposite which is spanking or discipline should be applied when the child does wrong. This is not wickedness but a correction method as the child is too young to make correct judgments of his actions hence if left alone will repeat the same without knowing the consequence of his action. I know some people will argue that just telling the child is enough to do the job, yes in some case, but not all times, sometimes when the case is severe it demand severe action to make a statement in the mind of the child that his/her action is out of bound that must not reached for.
Children are innocent, and as a result they want to experiment with everything. If possible they want to bring out the people talking inside the television, and I know, no parent or guardian will allow that, but what will happen after using the word of mouth to prevent your child from doing what’s in his/her mind? Will you just give in to their desire or do something to stop them, if yes what will that be, my best bet is to discipline the child.
Proverb 22:6 say “Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from It” this means the responsibility of who the child becomes lies with the parent or guardian and as such will receive the shame or praise of the child’s actions, with this in mind, is it not better to raise a child who will bring dignity and respect to you and the family than that who will bring disgrace and embarrassment.

Parenting is not an easy task we know, but with this bible verse it means if we start earlier it will be easier to lead a child on the right path as children are like plants who will always lean toward direction of the sunlight (photosynthesis) and if the gardener don’t take extra time to straighten it from time to time the stem will be bend and when it becomes a tree it will also not be a straight tree.
Our lifestyles are also very critical to child up bringing as our children are a direct photocopy of ourselves and a reflection of the life we live indoors. There is a saying that a snake cannot give birth to a goat that means your child is a direct reflection of who you are.

The believe of this kind of parent is that they are working to secure the future of their children and give them the best education but the foundation has to be perfect and only people in the life of a child who can lay a perfect foundation is the father and mother.
